What is EMI Calculator?

EMI Calculator computes Equated Monthly Installments (EMI) for home loans, vehicle loans, and personal loans in India. It supports the banking-standard reducing-balance interest method and flat-rate calculation, allowing borrowers to compare effective borrowing costs. View monthly payments, total interest payable, principal-to-interest distribution charts, and yearly amortization schedules.

How to use EMI Calculator

  1. 1Enter the principal loan amount in Rupees, annual interest rate percentage, and tenure in years or months.
  2. 2Choose reducing-balance (standard bank home and car loans) or flat-rate (dealership and NBFC financing).
  3. 3Review the monthly EMI, total interest payable, overall repayment amount, and visual amortization charts.

Key features

Interactive Distribution Charts

Visual donut and bar charts showing yearly principal reduction and total interest proportion.

Zero Data Sharing

Loan amounts and financial details remain 100% private in local browser memory without server transmission.

Frequently asked questions

Reducing balance: EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ / ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is principal, r is monthly interest (annual rate / 12 / 100), and n is total months. Flat rate: Total interest = P × (annual rate / 100) × (n / 12), then EMI = (P + total interest) / n. Both assume fixed interest rates and regular monthly schedules.
Standard Indian bank loans (home loans, personal loans, car loans from SBI, HDFC, ICICI) use reducing-balance amortization where interest is charged only on the outstanding balance. Flat rate is commonly quoted by two-wheeler and consumer durable dealers; for the same nominal rate, flat rate results in roughly double the effective interest burden.
Monthly EMI, aggregate repayment, and total interest are computed in full floating-point precision before rounding to two decimal places (paise) for display. Actual bank schedules may round each monthly instalment to the nearest integer rupee, creating minor single-rupee variances over long tenures.
When the interest rate is 0%, the total interest is ₹0 and the monthly EMI equals the principal divided equally across the tenure months (EMI = P / n).
No. This calculates pure loan interest and principal repayments under fixed-rate assumptions. Bank processing charges, documentation fees, GST on fees, and loan protection insurance are upfront or separate charges excluded from standard EMI math.
